Reclaiming Our Identity: 100% Exotically Cameroon

{jcomments on}

Not too long ago, I wrote about how we are losing ourselves in the quest for something special and exotic for our special day and beyond. You can read about that here.

We keep losing ourselves as we continue to be ardent consumers of everything except what is made in Cameroon,including our traditional dresses. It is a sad thing to be sure when, a people prefer to take pride in others’ culture while forsaking theirs albeit a very rich one.

Fortunately, the tide is turning and more and more Cameroonians are seeing the beauty in their culture and other traditional artifacts which they are now using with much pride.

One such person who is proud of his roots and is not ashame to show it is Mr Fon aka Treize Quartoze; an up and coming fashion icon of www.lemoi13.com fame.

Words are not always necessary to describe a star because in most cases, they are never enough and can end up doing a disservice to the said star. If you think Cameroon doesn’t have much to offer when it comes to fashionable dresses especially during such memorable moments like a traditional marriage, I will let the pictures speak for themselves.

Exotic timelessness.

(With special thanks to Mr Fon for the exotic pictures.)

After going through these pictures, I can say without fear of bias that we are at the top of our game. Charity they say begins at home. If we do not promote ours, nobody will do it for us. It is time for us to reclaim our Identity and promote what is ours. Like I said in a previous article, there is no accounting for taste and everyone is entitled to theirs yet, why should we keep shunning such stunning outfits which give us an identity for those of others who couldn’t be caught dead wearing ours?

We continue to lose ourselves be it in fashion, music etc. Embracing universality is great but let’s not do it at the expense of losing ourselves to the extent that, we become just an inconsequential speck in the overall crowd. Let’s be proud of who and what we are by dressing Camer when we have to and reclaim our identity.

Thank you for always reading. Please like, comment and share. Your comments always inspire me.

I applaud your contribution in enlightening the populace the importance of not losing to outsourcing. Every time you bring up the subject,go a long in reminding somehow out there not to abandon what makes them uniquely Cameroonian and stay the course. Keep up the good work Miss Arrey!!
